Welcome to Finham Residents Association
Consultation Events-November 2017 Print E-mail

A reminder that there will be two Consultation Events taking place this week on the
proposed development on Kings Hill.
Stoneleigh Village Hall – 14.00 – 20.00 Friday 24th November 24th
Finham Park School – 10.00 – 16.00 Saturday 25th November

This will be an opportunity for you to look at the proposals and give your views and
ideas to the Developers from Lioncourt and Savills who will attend. They are
bringing large copies of both the site and the proposed roundabout system at the bottom
of St Martins Road.

Several residents have asked what questions need to be addressed and you
will have your own ideas.

The following are some suggestions that may be helpful:
Any plan should provide a significant greenbelt divide between Coventry Finham)
and Warwickshire (Kenilworth).

To address the issues:-
minimise the air pollution resulting from traffic on the site
protect the Finham Primary school from being overlooked
provide play area for the children of Finham

What numbers of houses are you proposing? What style and size? How many
stories is the tallest building? Their location on Kings Hill?

The location of the Community Centre on the plan is not accessible to the people
of Finham (unless travelling by car) on a very narrow road

Any building should start at the Kenilworth side of the site to use the proposed
infrastructure.  There is an ongoing challenge to Coventry’s housing numbers and
this could make any overspill unnecessary and so any houses built should be purely
to satisfy WDC’s own housing needs

What is the proposed route for construction vehicles onto Kings Hill?

How will the flow of traffic be managed with Kings Hill development, HS2, Solihull
relief road and Stoneleigh Road widening all happening at the same time?

How will the flooding problems be controlled due to this huge new development?

Kings Hill has;
27 ancient ponds with newts and frogs
Bat colonies and Badger sets
Ancient hedgerows and trees that were protected (maps available)
Anglo Saxon sites
Part of the Ancient Arden Forest – we need assurance that these are protected.
How will you do this?

No bus gates onto Green Lane because:-
there is no room on Green Lane
Once established they can be re-designated as through traffic roads.

The Doctors Surgery at 183 Green Lane has closed and many patients are
transferring to the Sky Blue Medical Centre in Green Lane which will be at capacity.
Therefore any build will require a surgery for the population.

WDC's Local Plan Approved Print E-mail

I am sure that you may know already but I want to keep you informed.  We have found out that WDC's Local Plan has been approved by the Inspector on Wednesday 2nd August.

I attach the link for you and also I have copied the Press Release.

An important section to note-

Paras 287 -296 of Inspector’s Report concluding:

296. In light of the above and my wider conclusions in relation to land to the south of Coventry there are exceptional circumstances which justify altering the boundaries of the Green Belt at Kings Hill. The proposed further site allocation (H43) put forward by the Council is required to ensure that the Local Plan is justified, effective and consistent with national policy.

We are very disappointed in this outcome and will continue to fight on behalf of the Residents of Finham.  As you know the housing numbers used by CCC which have resulted in the overspill are being disputed and we will keep you informed.

Warwick district's Local Plan is approved - Warwick District Council

Kind regards

The A46 Stoneleigh Road Junction scheme is planned for delivery by the end of 2019 and will see a major improvement implemented at the Stoneleigh Junction on the A46 between Coventry and Kenilworth, to form a gyratory layout with two bridge roundabout. The proposed works will involve installing a new bridge to the east of the existing junction and realigning Stoneleigh Road and Dalehouse Lane.

Kings Hill 2/Gibbet Hill/Finham Print E-mail

You need to be aware that the land marked for development by Warwick District Council no longer centres just on Kings Hill.  It now extends from Green Lane in the north to Stoneleigh Road in the South and from the railway line in the west to the A46 in the east.

The proposal appears to include Wainbody Wood but this does not necessarily mean that they will be able to remove the woodland, it is just showing the parcel of land under consideration.
