As I am sure you know Finham Library is on The Green in Droylesdon Park Road and provides the usual library services, from borrowing books, talking books, ebooks, DVD's and CD's; having newspapers and magazines available for reading, to computers that can be used for free for up to 2 hours.
But, did you know that you have two years to improve the numbers of those who use the Library or lose it? Yes 2 years!
The problem with all libraries is that they have to compete with iPads, smart phones, Kindle's etc. In other words the digital age.
Since January many groups have been formed:
*For children:
Storytimes, Stay & play, Homework help club and Rhymetime
*For adults:
Handicraft group, Knit & Natter, Readers Group, monthly Historical Group, basic help on the computer, help researching family history and using the library's free access to Ancestory.co.uk. (These groups receive tea or coffee for which a donation is asked.)
The Library is also offering free use of the Library refreshment facilities and toilet to those who wish to start their own activities. If you fancy starting something different to what is already on offer, please talk to the Library staff, Kim or Debbie, they will help with setting up your group and produce posters.
The Library is one of the few amenities in Finham and we don't want to lose it.
Please use it, or lose it - it's up to you now. |
